A search built on a thin brief produces a thin shortlist, so we spend the time here.

We map the full market for the role, not only the people who happen to be available. That gives you a clear picture of where the talent actually sits, across direct competitors and the sectors around them, and a realistic view of who is reachable and what it will take to move them. You see the landscape before we approach anyone.

The strongest candidates are usually settled, well looked after, and not remotely interested in an advert. We approach them directly and discreetly, as a senior partner rather than a researcher working from a script. After 25 years in sport, most of these are warm conversations rather than cold calls, which is often the difference between a yes and a no.

Every candidate is assessed properly against the brief, not just screened on paper. We look past the track record to how someone actually leads and whether they will work in your particular environment. You get our honest read on each person, reservations included, rather than a set of CVs with the good bits highlighted.

We present a genuine shortlist, usually a short one, with a clear appraisal of each candidate against the brief. That includes the trade-offs, because there is almost always a trade-off, and it is better you know it now than discover it later. Our job is to make your decision better informed, not longer.

We manage the interview process end to end: scheduling, briefing candidates properly, gathering structured feedback from your side, and keeping everyone engaged as it runs. Good candidates go off the boil when a process drags, so we keep it moving and keep you in the picture.

Before any offer, we reference thoroughly if requested and carry out the checks that matter for a senior appointment. This is done carefully and confidentially, and we tell you what we find plainly, whether it confirms the decision or gives you something to weigh.

The offer stage is where good appointments are sometimes lost. We manage it closely, advising on package and structure, handling the sensitive conversations, and working towards a yes that both sides are genuinely happy with. Counter-offers, notice periods and competing interest are all part of the picture, and we plan for them rather than react to them.

Our involvement does not stop when the contract is signed. The first few months in a senior role decide a great deal, so we stay close to both sides through the settling-in period and step in if anything needs smoothing. If an appointment does not work out within the agreed guarantee period, we put it right.
